Dr. Sylvia Carter began her tenure as a teacher at Adamson Middle School in Clayton County, Georgia. She is a National Board Certified Social Studies teacher and, since 1997, has served as a voice for young adults across Georgia. Because of her passion for her subject, her innovative focus on her learners and the passion she devoted to mentoring others new to the profession, Sylvia was named Teacher of the Year. She has chaired and co-chaired several significant committees over the past three decades, and implemented leadership initiatives for women. As the founder of Women Impacting a Nation, she has seen her vision of being a helping resource to women and children expand over the years. Programs such as Satisfied Seniors Arts and Crafts, Job Readiness Program, the Crossover Program, Summer Youth Basketball Camp, Legacy and Camp Siloam are only a few of the programs that have been created under her leadership. Sylvia is proud to add author to her list of accomplishments. She has written two Christian Romance novels, No Wasted Tears and Beyond the Tears.
Her commitment to the community stretches far beyond the local church or school. With the help of several volunteers, she has changed the lives of women and children throughout the local counties of Georgia. As a leader and inspirational speaker, Sylvia can be found among her peers at events across the state of Georgia spreading an empowering message to women and young adults.“Sylvia’s welcoming personality is a trademark, and Jesus will always be reflected in everything she does.” She is the devoted wife of Pastor Jonathon C. Carter and a loving mother to her children, Thaydra and Jonathon.
